Vocare Tuition Program Q&A

INTRODUCTION

Where can I find the Vocare Tuition Program Policy?
The full policy is available here.

What’s the difference between the We Pay option (tuition paid upfront) and Get Reimbursed option (traditional tuition reimbursement)?
  • We Pay: Ascension covers tuition costs directly up to the annual limit, and supports only online programs.
  • Get Reimbursed: Requires you to pay upfront out-of-pocket costs and excludes certification courses. Successful course completion is required for reimbursement.
Can I participate in both the We Pay Option and Get Reimbursed within the same calendar year?
No, associates are only allowed to participate in one option per calendar year. For example, if an associate has utilized the We Pay option to take courses within a calendar year, they will not be able to participate in the Get Reimbursed option until the following year, and vice versa. If you have any additional questions regarding transitioning between the two options, please contact vocare@ascension.org.

ELIGIBILITY

Who is eligible to participate?
Full-time and part-time associates classified as "benefits-eligible" can participate starting their first day of employment. Refer to the program policy for details. Contractors, temporary employees and associates on the last step of corrective action are not eligible. Associates covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement/Union Contract should consult that agreement or Associate Relations to see if this policy/procedure applies to them.

PROGRAM COVERAGE

Is there an annual limit?
Yes, the annual limit is $5,250 per associate for both offerings. Costs above this limit and any resulting tax implications become personal responsibility.

Do I need manager or HR approval to apply?
No approval is required, but discussing your career goals with your leader is encouraged.

ASSOCIATE PARTICIPATION AND ENGAGEMENT
