We're pleased to share that Carol Campbell, senior vice president and chief experience officer for Ascension, was recently named on Becker's Healthcare's 2024 list of '54 CXOs to Know'. This noteworthy recognition highlights Chief Experience Officers in healthcare who are leading the way with innovative strategies to enhance every aspect of the journey involving patients, their families and loved ones, and all associates and providers who serve them. Carol shares more on the transformative impact of enhancing experiences in healthcare: “Transformation of healthcare is about closely understanding and delivering on the needs – both head and heart – of those we serve, something I believe Ascension is uniquely positioned to deliver towards. It takes each and every person across our ministry to own the moment, ensuring we are delivering on the needs and wants of all we serve, often during some of their most difficult times.” http://ascn.io/6042jP8wi

We all own moments of the experience. Today we kick off Patient Experience Week – a time to celebrate the impactful work our teams do each and every day to serve the patients who come through our doors. I read so many wonderful notes from our patients each week, and almost every one mentions the unique connection our associates made with them. As we celebrate Patient Experience Week at Ascension, I really want to honor the men and women who pour their hearts into creating the best experiences possible all while delivering exemplary care. I’m repeatedly blown away at how thoughtful our associates are, creating personalized touches that really go above and beyond. I want to share a story of a recent moment that serves as a poignant reminder of what this is all about. For my team, and for me, it is about creating emotional connections filled with compassion and kindness. I read the following story shared by a patient, Jo, at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola about our team (pictured) celebrating their therapy milestone. “It was not on my first visit, but a couple weeks later, when I took my first steps since my accident, when I was told I would not walk for several months. Those wonderful people clapped like I had just crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon! And I cried like a baby! Tears of pain, but also tears of hope and joy.” It's stories like these that bring tears to my eyes. Small moments that make a meaningful difference. This is another touching testament to the compassion and care our people give our patients wherever they are on their journey. This week, I’m proud to celebrate the experience we deliver across Ascension and the incredible people who bring it to life each day.
