This is a follow-up and clarification to last week's email.

Any time you want to list a PCP on an application (whether it's required or not), remember to include both the provider ID and primary care ID

If your client wants to identify a primary care provider (PCP) when they enroll, please ensure you include all of the following items on the enrollment form:

  • PCP name
  • Provider ID
  • Primary care ID
  • IPA name/number for CA-HMO

Please note that our PCP selection process hasn’t changed. This is just a friendly reminder on items we need if your client wants to select a PCP when they enroll.

Some Aetna Medicare plans require a PCP, but many do not. However, we encourage all members to identify a PCP if they have one. Any time you list a PCP on an application, we need the provider ID or primary care ID numbers so we can assign the requested PCP. This will help ensure your clients have a positive onboarding experience with their new plan.

For plans that do require a PCP, if we’re unable to confirm your client’s PCP choice based on the info on the enrollment form and they attempted to provide PCP information, we’ll contact them. And if we’re unable to confirm their PCP, we’ll auto-assign a new one.

Options for selecting or changing a PCP

  • You can identify a PCP on the enrollment form.
  • You can request a PCP change on your client’s behalf. Just call Broker Services at 866-714-9301 and select prompt 8.
  • Members can call Member Services.
  • Members can use the member website after their plan effective date.

Where can you find the provider ID and primary care ID numbers?

The provider ID and primary care ID numbers are listed right below the provider name in our online provider directory, AetnaMedicare.com/findprovider (as shown in the example below), in the Think Agent tool, and in the provider directory PDFs

on Producer World.
