Temporary changes to eliminate the need for insurance paramedical requirements

We’re introducing additional temporary underwriting updates to help you settle more business and help give Clients the coverage they need.

Increased the face amounts now eligible for underwriting without blood and vitals

Effective immediately, we will eliminate the need to submit blood and vitals for all life insurance products within specific age bands:

·       Age 18-40, up to $2 million

·       Age 41-50, up to $1 million

·       Age 51-60, up to $500,000

Where a tele-interview is completed by Sun Life, blood and vitals won’t be required for all life insurance products in these age bands until further notice.  We will proactively look for ways to make decisions to issue coverage for the amount requested and with evidence we are able to obtain, including Attending Physician Statements.

Option to reduce application to lower face amount to qualify for non-medical underwriting on life insurance

You may now change some Client applications to a lower face amount so they can be considered for non-medical underwriting to help your Clients get covered faster. Reducing the face amount may move the applications through the underwriting process without waiting for blood and lab work.

This change applies to cases nearing the expiry of the interim insurance providing or temporary insurance certificate. In cases that have the option of a lower face amount, we will contact you to discuss options for your client.

Depending on the Client’s medical history, the limit changes and the option to reduce face amounts may not be available. Additional cases may be considered with an APS where a blood profile was completed in the last 12 months.

Cases in progress

If you have a pending case waiting on blood and vitals, there is nothing you are required to do, we will process these cases in the coming weeks using the new criteria above.
